A Mercedes Service B Does Not Have One Germany-Wide Price
A €399–€499 dealer offer is a useful benchmark, not a universal Service B price. Compare the VIN-specific scope, additions and exclusions.
There is no single Germany-wide price for Mercedes-Benz Service B. One useful current benchmark is €399 for a four-cylinder car or €499 for a six-cylinder car, but those figures come from a particular dealer promotion—not a Mercedes-Benz national tariff.
As checked on 22 September 2026, Mercedes-Benz dealer group Herbrand advertises those fixed prices for passenger cars at least six years old. AMG models and cars with eight to 12 cylinders are excluded, and additional work costs extra. The advertised package includes an oil and oil-filter change, cabin-filter replacement, fluid checks or top-ups, a brake test and the listed inspection work (Herbrand offer and conditions).
Treat €399–€499 as a comparison point for an eligible older car, not as a forecast for every appointment. A newer model, an excluded model or a vehicle requiring additional scheduled work can produce a different quote.
Why the Service B price varies
Mercedes-Benz says Service A and Service B alternate, with the car’s service-interval display providing notice of the next appointment. For combustion-engine cars, both include an oil change and replacement work prescribed by the manufacturer. Service B adds checks of vehicle components affecting safety and operating comfort. EQ models have a different technical scope, including checks of components such as the high-voltage battery, vehicle charging socket and charging cable (Mercedes-Benz maintenance overview).
A workshop estimate can therefore contain three different categories:
- The quoted Service B package: the inspection, oil service where applicable and other items expressly included in the price.
- Additional scheduled work: anything due for that particular vehicle but excluded from the package.
- Repairs identified during inspection: worn or defective parts that need separate authorization.
A brake inspection, for example, does not mean replacement pads and discs are included. Herbrand’s conditions say additional work is discussed in advance and performed only after the customer approves it; the detailed scope also says wiper blades require a separate order.
Get a quote you can compare
Give each workshop the VIN, current mileage, first-registration date and exact service message displayed by the car. Ask for an itemized written estimate separating:
- the basic Service B package;
- the engine-oil specification and quantity, where applicable;
- filters and other parts included in the base price;
- any additional time- or mileage-dependent work shown as due for the vehicle;
- shop supplies and disposal charges;
- pickup, delivery or replacement-car charges;
- promotional eligibility and exclusions;
- repairs recommended after inspection.
Ask the workshop to contact you before performing extra work or exceeding the estimate. That prevents a low advertised base price from being mistaken for the likely final invoice.

Compare like with like
It is reasonable to request estimates from an authorized Mercedes-Benz partner and a qualified independent workshop. The lower number is meaningful only if both estimates cover the same vehicle-specific maintenance scope, fluids, parts and documentation.
Also ask how the completed service will be recorded. Mercedes-Benz says service work is retained in its central database through the Digital Service Report and that a Mercedes-Benz partner can provide information about the vehicle’s recorded service data (Mercedes-Benz maintenance overview). If considering an independent workshop, establish beforehand what service record and itemized invoice it will provide.
Bottom line: do not set a German maintenance budget from the words “Service B” alone. The current €399 four-cylinder and €499 six-cylinder Herbrand promotion is a limited benchmark for eligible older cars. Obtain a VIN-based estimate that separates the base service, scheduled additions and condition-based repairs.
