Useful hints and tips for travelers in Germany
The Museumsuferfest, Museum Embankment Festival in Frankfurt, is a great cultural event, one of the largest in Europe, involving the museums of the German city, but also many cultural representations of other European countries. The hub of the festival is on the south bank of River Main, where there are some of the major museums in Frankfurt.
However, the protagonist is not only the museum culture, as music, theater and street performers will also invade the streets adjacent to the Museum Embankment with excellent shows and events.
Not to mention the food. There will be countless stalls with specialties from all over Europe. More than three million visitors come to town in the days of the festival, in order to attend this great celebration, which closes with a wonderful fireworks show.
For three days, the museums along River Main stay open until late at night , also organizing events and shows of various kinds. The museums themselves are a show in the show: many of them are housed in new modern structures designed by famous architects, others occupy buildings of the nineteenth century, renovated and refurbished.
On the south bank of the Main there are the Liebieghaus, museum of statues of all times, the Stadelsches Kunstinstitut of Modern Art, the Museum für Post und Kommunikation on the history of communication, the Deutsches Architektur Museum on German Architecture, Deutsches Filmmuseum on the history Francophone Film, Museum für Volkerkunde -Ethnographic Museum and the Museum für Angewandte Kunst on applied arts.
