The large bay of Rostock on the Baltic Sea becomes the scene of an exceptional event in mid-August. For four days the waters of the port will be the setting for a gathering of sailboats of all kinds, but especially historic tall ships, museum and vintage boats, which will get back to the sea to delight over a million visitors.
The Hanse-Sail is one of the most important summer events in Rostock, a historic city in the Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It’s going to be a great folk party, full of meetings, cultural events and art performances, during which dozens of tall ships will gather in the bay to perform in races and competitions.
For its 2011 edition, the great Hanse-Sail festival will be held from August 11 to 14, a turnout of a million people is expected. The festival will involve the whole city, with concerts and performances both in theaters and on the streets, in a very cheerful and pleasant atmosphere.
The core of the festival is in the port area, where you will find more than 250 yachts and sailboats on exhibit: booking in advance it is also possible to board the great ships and sail along with the crews.
