130° Edition of the Kieler Woche, the Sailboat Regatta in Kiel, June 18th to 26th

The Kieler Woche is the largest sailing event in the world and takes place in Kiel, in Schleswig-Holstein Land, Germany, on the Baltic Sea. This is a sporting and dressy event that attracts more than 3 million people during this nine-day race: 5,000 athletes and over 2,000 boats for a total of 400 races.

Also Stuttgart has its own Beer Festival

It all starts on Saturday morning (September 24th, 2011) when the mayor of the city “taps” a pint of beer. At that point the drink flows freely between the large stands of the local breweries, Hofbräu, Dinkel, Acker, Schwaben Braü, Fürstenberg Bräu. The Cannstatter Volksfest, Stuttgart’s Beer Festival, will close after two weeks in a blaze of fireworks.

Famous throughout Europe, the spas of Stuttgart have a very ancient history. Their existence and the curative effects of the water were known as early as 2000 years ago when the area was dominated by the Romans. Indeed they were the ones who founded the thermal baths of Cannstatt: the area has become in the following centuries a meeting place for social and diplomatic encounters on a European scale.
