From November 23 until December 31, in the large Theresienwiese lawn of Munich, which already hosts the Oktoberfest, will be held a wonderful event that is very limiting to call a “Christmas Market.” Indeed, in addition to the classic wooden houses and stalls where all the objects of the Christmas tradition are sold, the Winter Festival Tollwood will also include numerous artistic performances, theater and circus, concerts and the chance to taste the wine & food products from all around Europe.

October 12 to 23, Berlin: a colored city with the Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights in Berlin is now at its seventh edition. For ten days the major palaces, tourist centers, and religious institutions of the city will be decorated with thousands of colored lights set up by internationally renowned artists. This is the greatest show of lights and lighting in the world, and attracts millions of tourists from all over Germany and Europe.

October 7th to 9th: the Onion Festival in Weimar

Zwiebelmarkt, the onion market, is a great event held in Weimar, Thuringia, Germany, since 1635. In the three days of the Zwiebelmarkt, the city is filled with the flavor of onions and many agricultural products are exhibited and sold in hundreds of stalls in the main squares of the city. More than 350 000 tourists flock to Weimar every year to attend the Onion Festival: a great number of people considering that the city has just over 65 000 inhabitants.

This summer 2011 Leipzig renews its annual appointment with Heißluftballone, hot air balloons, at the Saxonia International Balloon Fiesta. For four days the sky around the beautiful Saxonian city will fill up with over 60 balloons from all over Europe. The more daring visitors can also book a tour of the city’s rooftops.

Würzburg, in Bavaria, is one end of the Romantische Strasse, the famous romantic 340 km long road; the other ending is Füssen, in the Bavarian Alps. In Würzburg every summer is held Hafensommer, a festival that brings to town dozens of artists from around the world, for three weeks of concerts, plays and shows. An event of great culture and fun.
