The brewers of Munich are already busy preparing the nectar which will be poured in millions of gallons into the mugs of the Oktoberfest (September 17th -October 3rd ). Also this year the legendary festival in Munich – held, since 1810, at the Theresienwiese field – is expected to draw millions of visitors. We had already mentioned it, but the appointment is renewed. In the gardens of Herrenhausen in Hanover on the 10th and on the 24th of September will be held the last stages of the fireworks competition, which involves opposing national teams of Sweden, France, Spain, Austria and Mexico. On the 10th it is the Austrian national team’s turn and on the 24th it will be the Mexican’s.

Like every year, for twenty days the city of Munich becomes the European center of entertainment. During the 2010 edition of the Oktoberfest there were nearly 6.5 million visitors in the large Festhalle, the covered tents, who drank more than 6 million liters of beer and ate something like 17 cattles, 59 calves and a few hundred thousands of chickens, but mostly 250 000 sausages (always served in pairs).

For over 30 years in Stuttgart, at the end of August, wine is celebrated with an important colorful and festive event. In the central square, the Schlossplatz, and in the Schlossgarten, dozens of food and wine stands are set up where you can sample local wines such as Riesling, Schillerwein and Trollinger.

The Renaissance Faces, Gesichter der Renaissance, is the title of the exhibition that you can admire at the Bode Museum in Berlin from August 25th to November 20th, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The Bode Museum is located on the Museums Island, Museumsinsel, which is to the north of River Spree.
