The Museumsuferfest, Museum Embankment Festival in Frankfurt, is a great cultural event, one of the largest in Europe, involving the museums of the German city, but also many cultural representations of other European countries. This summer 2011 Leipzig renews its annual appointment with Heißluftballone, hot air balloons, at the Saxonia International Balloon Fiesta. For four days the sky around the beautiful Saxonian city will fill up with over 60 balloons from all over Europe. The more daring visitors can also book a tour of the city’s rooftops.

The large bay of Rostock on the Baltic Sea becomes the scene of an exceptional event in mid-August. The Cologne Lights, Kölner Lichter, is a spectacular event which takes place every year in Cologne along river Rhine. For the entire evening, dozens of illuminated boats cross the river while the buildings shine in many colors and thousands of fireworks burst in the sky. Five tons of fireworks will delight an audience of nearly one million people.

This is the 35th edition of a unique event: for two days, over 350 vintage cars are exhibited at the Kurgarten of Baden-Baden, a town in western Baden-Württemberg. This is one of the largest European events in the world of vintage cars, which bears the name “Concours d’élégance automobile”.
