Some of the most important trade shows of the year will take place in Germany throughout March. Numismata, an unmissable event for collectors and fans of ancient coins and medals, will take place in Munich, with more than 300 international exhibitors. Hannover will host CeBit instead, one of the world’s most important exhibitions for new technologies. The tourism sector will meet in Berlin during ITB, International Travel Show. Starting from the second week of March, it’s time for Internorga at Hamburg Messe, an international event for the wealthy food & beverage and catering industries. Last but not least, the cultural event par excellence for the world of literature: publishers, authors, journalists and readers will flock as usual to Leipzig for Leipziger Buchmesse, one of Europe’s most famous book fairs ever.

New Year’s 2013 in Germany will be a celebration in the spirit of tradition. German squares, roads, restaurants, clubs and theaters will be crowded with locals and tourists alike, all ready to celebrate the new year with a toast of Feuerzangenbowle, a traditional drink of some fraternities made with red wine, rum, orange peel, cinnamon and cloves. New Year’s Eve in Berlin will be as usual in the name of unbridled celebration in the streets with its clou moment at the Brandenburg Gate, while in Stuttgart the appointment will be at the Kunstmuseum Civic Art Museum, in Schlossplatz. In Munich, New Year’s is also passion, love and revenge with Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

For beer lovers, this could be the trip of a lifetime. Destination: Bavaria – towards Munich, to be on the great lawn of Theresienwiese (‘Wiesn’ for Müncheners) on September 22nd at noon, waiting for the Mayor to tap the first keg to kick off the most famous Oktoberfest in Germany. On September 28th, then, a quick shift to Stuttgart to attend the Cannstatter Volksfest, which lasts until Oct. 14th. At this point, five days for an easy trip to Bremen (750 km to the north) to attend the inauguration of Bremen Beer Festival, from October 19th to November 4th.

F.re.e is the new C-B-R Fair for Leisure and Travel, which has changed its name. It was and remains the leading appointment for leisure and travel, and takes place in southern Germany. F.re.e offers a rich program of side events, appointments and shows on the world of adventure and travel, and will be held at the exhibition center of Munich, Munich Messe. The fair takes place from February 22nd to the 26th: in those days, Munich also offers many musical appointments to relax after the fair.

From November 23 until December 31, in the large Theresienwiese lawn of Munich, which already hosts the Oktoberfest, will be held a wonderful event that is very limiting to call a “Christmas Market.” Indeed, in addition to the classic wooden houses and stalls where all the objects of the Christmas tradition are sold, the Winter Festival Tollwood will also include numerous artistic performances, theater and circus, concerts and the chance to taste the wine & food products from all around Europe.

The tradition of Christmas markets in Germany is very much alive. The ancient medieval cities, with their historic squares, the imposing gothic churches, the monuments that recall an significant and glorious past, are the perfect scenario for a period of celebration, lights and colors, which introduces to the upcoming Christmas. There are hundreds of Christmas markets in Germany; in all major and small towns, from north to south, the Weihnachtsmarkt are prepared according to different variations for each region, with craft and food specialties, different customs and specific traditions. More than a hundred locations open to the public from 7 pm to 2 am. Not only museums but also clubs and spaces where to listen to music of all genres. This is the Long Night of Museums, which will be held on October 15 in Munich (Lange Nacht der Münchner Museen.) The program also includes a long… afternoon, from 2 to 6 pm, with initiatives, shows, tours and concerts mainly dedicated to children.
