Useful hints and tips for travelers in Germany
Famous throughout Europe, the spas of Stuttgart have a very ancient history. Their existence and the curative effects of the water were known as early as 2000 years ago when the area was dominated by the Romans. Indeed they were the ones who founded the thermal baths of Cannstatt: the area has become in the following centuries a meeting place for social and diplomatic encounters on a European scale.
Today the thermal baths in the district of Bad Cannstatt (there are two spas in town, Leuze and Cannstatt, very close to each other) are well equipped facilities, with many services and a professional staff suitable for both those seeking simply a moment of relaxation, and those who need the baths for medical care. There are as many as 19 springs in this area, of which 11 are considered therapeutic, and more than 22 million liters of mineral and thermal water stream every day in this area.
In the spa area there is also the Wilhelma zoo, within the Rosensteinpark. But the district of Bad Cannstatt is also famous for a festival dedicated to beer, the Cannstatter Volksfest, a traditional annual event. Many hotels in Stuttgart are located in this area because of the presence of the spas.
