Useful hints and tips for travelers in Germany
Cologne Trade Fair, Kölnmesse, welcomes the new year with an impressive series of trade fairs. From mid January until the end of February, will be held eight trade fairs, involving hundreds of thousands of visitors and exhibitors. But in the same period, for lovers of pop music and rock, in some of the most popular venues for concerts in the German town, many musical events of great significance will take place. A way to relax after the long days of work spent at the Fair.
Let’s go with order: business before pleasure.
Trade Fairs in Cologne in January and February
Imm, from January 16 to 22
International Furniture Fair, with special events such as the contest D3 reserved for young designers. For the 2012 edition at Imm, you will also enjoy an exhibition on the history of the city’s architecture in the last 60 years.
ProSweets, from January 29 to February 1
International Trade Fair for the confectionery industry, with the presentation of products, raw materials, processes, packaging technology, etc. Some sections will be dedicated to refrigeration systems, food safety and quality management.
Ism, from January 30 to February 2
Ism is an event dedicated to the confectionery industry, also including machinery and production services. In the course of the event, ample space will be reserved for new marketing strategies.
Spoga horse, from February 5 to 7
The international trade fair for equestrian sports, with exhibitors from more than 20 Countries. It will present trends, products – such as helmets, saddles, accessories, bridles, but also solutions for the care and feeding of horses. Many equestrian events are also scheduled.
HuLST Expo, from 7 to February 9
The most important event for testing professionals, with test solutions for different sectors of industry, including biotechnology, food, medical or pharmaceutical. The event is divided into 4 sections: Medical Device Test & Technology Expo, Food & Beverage Test Expo, Pharma Test Expo and BioTech Test Expo.
Einstieg Abi, from February 10 to 11
Great trade fair for high school graduates and high school students, where one can find information and advice on the topics of education, career guidance and financing. Almost 350 German and international universities will be present at the stands.
Tire Technology Expo, from February 14 to 16
An international event, involving professionals and experts in the field of tire manufacturing. Tire Technology Expo is meant to be both a commercial and cultural event for the tire manufacturing sector.
Elektro: mobilia, from February 22 to 23
This is the Electric Mobility exhibition, focusing on products and solutions related to electric vehicles, technologies, power transmission, telecommunications, infrastructures and any useful item for this increasingly expanding sector.

Andrea Berg at Lanxess Arena – Deutz-Kalker Straße
Andrea Berg is a German singer. She’s recently gained a great success with her last album, “Schwerelos”, which offers a mix of folk and pop rhythms in the style of the 1980s.
Marc Almond at Gloria – Apostelnstraße
Marc Almond is a British singer. In 2007 he released the album “Stardom Road,” in 2009 “Orpheum in Exile,” in 2010 “Varieté.” In the latter, Almond presents songs ranging from torch song, to cabaret and Russian folk.
Sefyu at Underground – Vogelsanger Straße
Sefyu, aka Youssef Soukouna, proposes French rap music. In 2008 he won the Victoire de la Musique Award.
Naturally 7 at Gloria – Apostelnstraße
American music group singing R&B music and beat-boxing. In 2009 they released the album “Wall of Sound”: they have performed with Michael Buble a version of Stardust in his new album “Crazy Love.”
Tim Bendzko at Live Music Hall – Lichtstraße
German singer-songwriter, has followed the music group Silly in their tour of 2010. In 2011 he released his first album “Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären” (if words were my language). He proposes a very sophisticated sound, but still a great success.
