The Dresden Music Festival is one of the major events on classical music in Germany. As always, the 2011 edition will include the participation of the main international orchestras. The thread that unites this year’s edition are the ‘Five Elements’ and the links between East and West.
The Dresden Music Festival 2011 focuses on the themes of spirituality, cultural values and religions that permeate life: in addition to musical events in fact, during the festival will be promoted discussions and meetings that will be a stimulus to reflect on the diversity and points of contact between different lifestyles.
The themes of spirituality and religion will be the focus of major exhibitions by internationally renowned orchestras, such as Cloud Gate from Chicago, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the New York’s Absolute Ensemble and New York Philharmonic, the Sächsische Staatskapelle from Dresden, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, Kreuzchor and Thomanerchor from Leipzig.
The Dresden Music Festival 2011, will thus provide interesting food for thought on the relations between Asia and Europe, trying to build a bridge to the Far East, as some major Eastern players – who will be attending Festival – already do, creating and working in the West.
