Useful hints and tips for travelers in Germany
Since 1985, the Rock am Ring of Nürburg, a town in the region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, is one of the most important rock music festivals in Europe. At the 2011 edition, more than eighty groups and soloists will perform on the stage set up inside the Nürburgring, the Formula 1 racetrack snaking around the Nürburg castle.
The Rock am Ring was originally planned in 1985, on the occasion of the inauguration of a newer racetrack in Nürburgring. The success of the festival convinced the organizer to make it an annual event: since then, more than 120 000 young people invade the space of the festival every year.
The Rock am Ring is held simultaneously with the Rock im Park, which takes place in the Zeppelinfeld, in Nürburg as well. The main headliners for the upcoming 2011 festivals have been announced as System Of A Down, Coldplay and Kings of Leon.
Other bands will include Dredg, Stereo MC’s, Bonaparte, Plain White T’s, The Pretty Reckless, Danzica, Beatsteaks, Mando Diao, Volbeat, Social Distortion, Figli di Mannheim, The Kooks, Korn, Disturbed, Hurt, Avenged Sevenfold , Interpol, 3 Doors Down, In Flames, Rob Zombie, Wolfmother, The Gaslight Anthem, White Lies, Simple Plan, Selig, Madsen, etc..
The ticket for the event is priced at 170 € and includes the opportunity to attend the concerts, stay in the camping, parking and taxes. The last tickets are still available for purchase on the official website http://www.rock-am-ring.com/.
